Leadership Institute Fellowship Teams


HandsOn Bay Area is kicking off it’s second series of year-long Leadership Institute Fellowship Teams (LIFT). The goal is to help participants deepen their knowledge of the nonprofit sector and grassroots community organizing. Fellows will support the staff and mission of Hands On Bay Area. LIFT Fellows will gain skills and tools they can use to become more fully engaged and effective community members, creating change in their community.

Who Should Apply?
Compassionate individuals
Individuals ready to take their volunteerism to the next level
Individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and life experiences.
Community involved residents who would like make a difference.
Corporate and nonprofit professionals with leadership experience or potential.
Individuals looking for meaningful involvement in their workplace or community.
Individuals motivated to contribute to their community.
Interest in working for a nonprofit or serving on a nonprofit board of directors.

Requirements

Commit to two full day retreats on a Saturday, June 21st and Saturday, June 28th





Attend one project per week as a team; project #1 will occur the week of June 21 - 28; project #2 will occur the week of June 30 - July 5





Attend 10 monthly evening meetings (one per month from July – April; time and dates will be decided on by the team)

Attend four to six supplemental trainings

Present their accomplishments at a graduation ceremony in May 2009





Commit an additional five to ten hours per month for the practical skills application component, which will be done individually and with regional teams

Work with their regional team to accomplish their goals

Must be 18 years of age or older to apply

Application Process
We invite interested HOBA members and community members to apply to HOBA’s LIFT Program. There is no cost for the application, but if selected, there will be a non-refundable $100 fee that will be applied to materials, training supplies and will be used as the working budget for the team. (A limited number of scholarships will be available on a needs basis).  Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by Monday, June 6th.
